I almost forget that Usenet still exists in some form. In some ways I miss it - notwithstanding the sometimes high signal-to-noise ratio and frequent flamewars - for these were the first online communities.
California Divorce Blawg points out in Google discussion group answers divorce questions that these Usenet groups still exist:
"Information is power! People going through divorce need the information to understand (not necessarily appreciate) the process. Good divorce lawyers welcome educated clients, because it makes the lawyer's job easier. Surfing the net I found a valuable resource for client information. alt.support.divorce is a Google Groups discussion list packed with information on divorce and experiences of people going through divorce."
