Cost or Service: Which one is more important?

What makes you decide to hire a lawyer - the amount charged or services rendered or a combination of the two?

What services do you expect from your lawyer? What services do you want? What services do you not want?

How much is too much to pay for a divorce or support case or visitation case or custody case? Why? How do you calculate what is too much?
