And it was reaffirmed yesterday by Indiana's Court of Appeals in Schaffer v. Schaffer (PDF format). Indiana has recognized a step-parent who has a long term relationship with a step-child may have visitation with that child. Now Indiana has a case on ending third party visitation.
What also makes Schaffer significant is that Troxel v. Washingon should now be applied to initial determinations of step-parent visitation and its possible application to grandparent visitation.
