Not quite my usual family law post, but Florida Divorce Blog's Pilot Program in Volusia Offers Intensive In-Home Services As Alternative to Foster Care was interesting enough to note here:

A pilot program in Volusia County, Florida allows thirty-five children to remain home with their families instead of being removed as a result of abuse or neglect.

The new Family In-Home Recovery Support Team (FIRST) program concentrates on providing intensive in-home services to just seventeen families at this time.

Yes, it is a pilot program. Yes, says my cynical side, it is unlikely that the General Assembly would ever find the money for a project like this in Indiana. But common-sense says that this sort of program may have a lot to offer.
