First Muskrat Love, now Robot Love

Thanks to Judith's Divorce Blog for the link to Family Lore. Here I sit bleary-eyed, a bit too full of a wonderful barbeque dinner, and find I do, Robot.

"Scottish scientist, businessman and chess International Master David Levy has been awarded a doctorate by Maastricht University for a thesis entitled 'Intimate Relationships with Artificial Partners'. He wrote: 'Trends in robotics and shifting attitudes on marriage are likely to result in sophisticated robots that will eventually be seen as suitable marriage partners'."
Which brings to mind my reaction to seeing the new Stepford Wives on television. (An aside: the only good thing about the new movie is Nicole Kidman but for a scare go watch the original). I said something to effect the guys were having intimate relationships with robots, right? She told me to stop asking questions and watch the movie.

Anyway, I do like the blog. For us in the States, it may not have much to tell us about the specifics of the law but it is so damned interesting to see how the generalities are so similar. People are people. For an example read A salutary lesson. Its point applies over here quite well.
