Paternity and child support - for the child's benefit -31-14-11

I think some people would think the idea of child support being for the exclusive benefit of the child as being self-evident. Others might not. This post is for the second group.

"Indiana Code 31-14-11-10 Use of support exclusively for child's benefit; Title IV-D disbursements and fees Sec. 10.

Support payments may be used only for the benefit of the child. However, if the payments are assigned to the state agency administering Title IV-D of the federal Social Security Act (42 U.S.C. 651 through 669), the payments shall be disbursed and fees shall be imposed in accordance with Title IV-D of the federal Social Security Act (42 U.S.C. 651 through 669). As added by P.L.1-1997, SEC.6."
For those paying child support who think the child does not benefit from the child support, there is a remedy called accounting. I strongly suggest talking to an attorney before taking any steps whatsoever.
